The Most Dangerous Duo In Vietnam - 1968

Nha Trang Airbase, RVN... Captured in a rare photo at left is probably the most lethal two-man family team ever unleashed against the communist forces in the Central Highlands.

The Air Force guy on the left is Chief Master Sgt. Fred Ramsauer, senior maintenance NCO for the 4th Special Operation Squadron. He is also 'Uncle Freddie' to 1LT Bob Golden, Forward Observer, II Corps MSF at right.

CMSG Ramsauer's job was to keep 'Spooky' (the Air Force's awesome flying gunship) in the air at all times, whenever needed. LT Golden's job was to find, fix and destroy all communist forces in southern II Corps. Working with indigineous Montagnard mobile strike force and mobile guerrilla force units, LT Golden swept huge amounts of real estate on a daily basis (just itching for the opportunity to fire 'Spooky' again).

LT Golden operated extensively in 'denied areas' with the full confidence that his Uncle Fred was not about to ever face his older sister and try to explain why her son was killed in Vietnam for lack of fire support.
