Independent Consultant designing, building implementing, and maintaining internet web sites, communications networks, web servers for a wide range of small and medium business clientele.  Also designing and deploying custom database programs for a wide range of applications; from auto racing to zoology cataloging with a large portion of ‘odd jobs’ in between.



June 01 - Nov 01

Windows 2000 MCSE Boot Camp, Wave Technologies.  Completed all core exams and also Building E-Commerce Sites at NYU.


Dec 00 - May 01

Consultant to Ann Taylor, to oversee the corporate operations center during the transition from a mainframe shop to an NT/Unix operation.  Developed a new, detailed operations center logging program in which insured that in-house staff performed and logged more than two thousand specific tasks per week with full reporting to senior management.  Conducted extensive NT and procedural training for operations center management and personnel.


Developed numerous new procedures for the operations center to better monitor and take immediate action in overseeing the AnnTaylor.Com web site and immediately reduced the site's down time more than 75%.



June 00 - Nov 00

Consultant to ThinkChain, a major, high-powered, well-financed Dot.Com startup venture in Midtown Manhattan.  This was an "all-Win2k" rollout operation run on very tightly metered timeline.  Built and deployed 300+ highly customized workstations for Java programmers and web developers in one week.

 

Also charged with deploying and managing of the firm's laptop computers.  Built and deployed 75+ IBM Thinkpad machines.  Developed database inventory programs for all of the firm's hardware, software and a loaner program.



Feb 98 - June 00

Consultant to Deloitte & Touche for the development and deployment of their new East Coast Deloitte Applications Center (DAC). Facilitated this project from the 'computer parts' and site construction phase through deployment and ongoing operations. Designed and built online logging program to establish and document all preventive maintenance procedures for D&T staff to follow.


Was also instrumental in the development of the DAC intranet which monitors many aspects of site performance, inventory, technical & operational procedures, contact information as well as serves as the internet portal for other key information. Also trained the East DAC D&T in-house staff  at Windows NT and Back Office subjects to the point they moved from zero certifications to 100% MCSE qualified.

July 97 - Jan 98

Full-time student and independent consultant. Completed MCSE, Unix Sys Admin and Webmaster certification programs. Deployed numerous networked business systems and custom programs for selected clientele in the NYC / NJ area. Also conducted Windows NT training for ISP personnel.

June 95 - June 97

Consultant to Winthrop, Stimson, Putnam & Roberts law firm in NYC. Facilitated rollover from Novell/MSDOS 386/486 to Pentium/Windows NT system of 500+ user system. Dealt with all conversion issues including network topology & hardware, server installation & integration, workstation configuration & deployment, data conversion (databases, wp docs, spreadsheets, DTP and PIMs) and training issues (training the training dept through end-user training).



After conversion, was further tasked to develop and deploy mobile computing system of 200+ IBM Thinkpad computers for the firm's attorneys to interface with the NT system from anywhere in the world.

1988 - 1994

Consultant and business owner of Computer Magic, The Clermont WorkStation and The Computer Doctor computer sales , services and repair operations in upstate New York (upper Hudson Valley).



Developed rural-market startup plans and built 600+ client base, primarily composed of small-business owners. Provided full 7/24 support for all business systems. Essentially brought this technology-impaired territory full-scale into the technology revolution with training and support facilities. Clientele ranged from funeral homes to body shops to bowling alleys, providing a wide-range of problem-solving challenges and wealth of hands-on, real-world experience.

1983 - 1987

Independent Consultant in Southern California and Washington DC. Executed wide range of database, publishing, training, and programming projects in the manufacturing, transportation, real estate, marketing, publishing and tourism industries.

Hardware --

·Most recently assembled, built, configured and maintained more than 60 Compaq rack-mount systems (1500s to 6500s) at D&T East DAC.

·Maintain thorough familiarity of entire Intel x86 family from 8088 to Pentium III class multi-processor machines. Have more than ten years repair facility level of hands-on experience diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing and upgrading all variations of this hardware family.

·Well-versed and innovative with hardware rollout techniques involving new and converted systems. Adept at tape, network, removable drive and disk-cloning techniques to maximize quality and speed of deployment. Have personally built 1500+ new rollout machines for Windows 3.x, 95 and NT systems.

·Complete knowledge of laptop/notebook hardware. Have worked extensively at sales, configuration, troubleshooting, repair and rollout operations. Developed and implemented mobile computing strategy for international law firm and deployed 200+ IBM ThinkPad systems.

·Proficient with nearly all networking hardware installation and maintenance from running cable to Compaq server assembly, rack-mount installation and ongoing maintenance & troubleshooting. Good familiarity and working knowledge of NIC adapters, hubs, repeaters, switches, bridges and routers (Cisco & Bay Networks). Have installed 200+ networking systems from workgroups to WANs.

·Aggressively pursue the most recent web development software including UltraDev, DreamWeaver, Adobe GoLive, PhotoShop, Illustrator, MS Visual InderDev, Perl, SQL & ODBC techniques.

·Maintain full familiarity with nearly all aspects and product inclusions of the MS Office Suite, Adobe, MacroMedia development tools, and Lotus Smart Suite product lines. Have conducted 300+ formal training sessions on these product platforms.

·Highly proficient at relational database design and implementation. Have converted 200+ business database programs from older formats (mainframe to obscure PC formats) to DBF, MDB and Lotus Notes formats. Prefer Lotus Approach for database development phase and additionally work with MS Access, FoxPro, DBASE and Lotus Notes for implementation projects. Have developed and deployed full-life-cycle versions of 100+ manufacturing, small business billing, inventory and operations programs.
